We have made arrangements with three local hotels to provide rooms for our guests on either or both of 26 and 27 July 2019. These are relatively small hotels, listed below, with limited numbers of rooms but, once all rooms at these three are gone, other options remain and two of those are also listed below.
The Hott is indicated by the large map paddle, to help you see where your chosen hotel is relative to our own location.

A. The Bowes Hotel, Bardon Mill
We have pre-allocated all available rooms for the use of ourselves and family members so please don’t call The Bowes Hotel. However, it is worth noting that this hotel also has excellent food (including some veggie options) and local ales, all available to non-residents. It will be available to our guests, both prior to their arrival at The Hott, and after the buffet reception. We have arranged for a large table in the bay window of the lounge to be available to our guests on the day. It is at location A on the map.
B. The Railway Hotel, Haydon Bridge

The Railway Hotel is recently refurbished and has four rooms available on the nights of 26/27 July. Longer stays are possible, if you want to linger and enjoy Northumberland. The hotel is at location B on the map, about 4 miles to the east of Bardon Mill.
This hotel also has excellent food and local ales and is easily accessible from Bardon Mill by train or bus (see the travel page), or by taxi1.
Details may be found at the hotel’s web site and Facebook page. Please mention Fiona and Christopher’s wedding if calling to book here.
C. The Centre of Britain Hotel, Haltwhistle

The Centre of Britain Hotel is an interesting little hotel with pleasant rooms and a popular restaurant, recommended in the Michelin guide as recently as 2016, and occupies an old bastle2 house in the centre of Haltwhistle. Rooms are available on 26/27 July. Longer stays are possible, if you want to linger and enjoy Northumberland. The hotel is at location C on the map, about 4 miles to the west of Bardon Mill and is easily accessible from Bardon Mill by train or bus (see the travel page), or by taxi
One of this hotel’s rooms includes a real sauna for the exclusive use of its occupants.
Details may be found at the hotel’s web site (warning: not mobile friendly). Please mention Fiona and Christopher’s wedding if calling to book here.
Other hotels, which you may wish to consider are:
D. The Beaumont Hotel, Hexham
The Beaumont Hotel is a slightly more upmarket establishment and boasts one of the two best restaurants in Hexham (the other is Bouchon Bistrot).
While we have made no special arrangements with this hotel, rooms are likely to be available for our guests who prefer a more urban location. The hotel is at location D on the map, just under 11 miles to the east of Bardon Mill and easily accessible by train, bus or taxi.
Details may be found at the hotel’s web site.
E. The Langley Castle Hotel, Langley
The Langley Castle Hotel is a luxury hotel in a 14th Century fortified castle and is also home to an excellent restaurant.
While we have made no special arrangements with this hotel, rooms are likely to be available for our guests who would like the experience of staying in an ancient castle. The hotel is at location E on the map, about 6 miles to the east of Bardon Mill. You’d probably need to organise a taxi if staying here as it is some distance from the trans-Pennine railway and bus routes.
Details may be found at the hotel’s web site.
Self Catering
A small number of places exist at self-catering accommodation directly adjacent to St Cuthbert’s Church, Beltingham.
The Bastle and the Joiner’s Shop, Beltingham, may be booked separately or together and can accommodate up to 8 people (we think 4+4). Please call them if interested in this option.
